High School Graduation Award 2024 Application

The Alaska School Nutrition Association (AKSNA) recognizes eligible students who obtain either their high school diploma or their GED certification and are planning on attending a post-secondary institution with a one-time cash gift.

To qualify you must be an eligible dependent (son, daughter, legal dependent at the time the application is submitted) of an active member of AKSNA and you must have received either a high school diploma or a GED certificate and be enrolled in a post-secondary institution before 30 June 2024.

Applications must be received by 19 May 2024 at 11:00 p.m. AKDT. The applicant must complete the official application form found below, including draft social media post that promotes school lunch or breakfast to be posted on AKSNA’s Facebook page. The social media posts may be text, graphic, or short video. For technical assistance, applicants should email awards@aksna.org. Emails to this address will not be counted for entry; please plan ahead and do not wait until the last minute to apply.

Applications will be reviewed by the AKSNA Awards and Recognition Committee to verify eligibility.

Applicants will be notified of approval and will need to submit documentation of graduation or GED completion and acceptance letter of the post-secondary institution by 30 June 2024.

AKSNA will send a check for the approved amount and to the address noted on the applicant’s form within 60 days of receiving the documentation. If the award amount is $600 or greater, AKSNA will request recipients complete Form W-9 to collect taxpayer information for tax reporting purposes and the recipient and IRS will receive a form 1099-MISC to file with their 2024 tax return.

Application Submission

The complete application is due 19 May 2024.
Qualified applicants will receive a letter of approval, by 30 June 2024, approved applicants must:

• Provide proof of graduation or GED completion during the 2023-2024 School Year
• Provide proof of enrollment into an accredited post-secondary institution
• If award amount is $600 or greater the applicant will be asked to complete and return form W-9 for tax reporting purposes
